Reader’s Question:

I have a question regarding car insurance increase. If I was pulled over for speeding for instance in Juneau, Alaska and went to court to fight it and then I did not receive any points added to your driving record, does this still cause your auto insurance to increase?

If you are convicted of a traffic violation in Juneau, Alaska then it can affect your auto insurance rates. An insurance provider is not concerned about the DMV points that are or are not assigned to your driving history but the actual speeding violation itself.

If instead you get the points dropped and your speeding violation reduced down to a non-moving violation that would not be put on your driving record then normally it would not affect your car insurance rates.

If your insurance provider’s rating system does call for your car insurance rates go up due to this speeding violation you can always shop around to check if you can find cheaper insurance with another auto insurance company.
